Ancient stones on Salisbury Plain

5,000 years of mystery and craft—sarsen giants, Welsh bluestones, solstice alignments, sweeping skies, and a landscape layered with stories. Your unofficial guide to Stonehenge—written by fans of big skies and old stones.

A prehistoric circle in a living landscape

Stonehenge rewards an unhurried visit: explore the visitor centre exhibition, stroll (or shuttle) across open downland to the stone circle, pause at viewpoints, and wander the reconstructed Neolithic houses.

Book a timed slot, arrive a touch early, and let the wind, light, and horizon set the pace..
